If you have downloaded the free books from Windows Guides (or any PDF) and it won’t open, you may see any of the following messages:

Invalid Adobe PDF
Error Locating Object Handler
Adobe reader could not open the file ‘ABC.pdf’ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example it has been sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded
An Internal Error Occurred
Other obscure and unhelpful messages

This guide will take you through basic troubleshooting steps you can use to view PDF files that seem to work for every one else but you.

CONS: No direct MP3 to CDA conversion

VERDICT: Get it while it’s free :)
Some day they’ll discover they can make money on it.

PROS: The program is very easy to use right out of the box. It works quickly and silently in the background without taking up too much of you CPU.

CONS: The final reports after analyzing and de-fragmenting can be long and difficult to read for novices. I would want to see more help-information being provided in click-able links throughout the reports.

VERDICT: An affordable defrag solution that actually improves your computer and registry without causing new errors.

PRICE: $34,95 per license (3 user license)

CONS: This program is still relatively new and, partly due to availability, does not have a huge host of choice for TV shows. Not compatible with XP Media Center. VERDICT: This software has great potential and, I’m sure, as it continues to improve, it will become a key and in for Windows Media Center. Although Internet TV is available in Windows XP Media Center and Vista Media Center, it’s never been well supported and, in Vista Media Center, Internet TV will frequently disappear from the menu (usually when I wanted to watch it.) Remote Desktop, No Installation Required – Freeware

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m a bit more than normally interested in Computers. So of course whom do they contact when they have problems with theirs ? Lucky guess. But figuring the problem over the phone isn’t always as easy, and some of my friends being “Twelve O’Clock Flashers” – explaining them what to do isn’t all that easy either.

The best way, sometimes, is using Remote Desktop. But this usually involves getting the already troubled users to download and install a small client of some sort and guide them through that. And, well… Let’s just say I sometimes hate being the one they call. However…

I’ve come a cross a great tool for the job, which allows me to help without all that hassle – and best of all – it’s free !!
