Interview with Joseph Moran & Kevin Otnes; Book Review of Getting StartED Windows 7
Joseph Moran and Kevin Otnes are both writers who have a long history in technical documentation and other tech-related endeavours. In this interview, we get to know Kevin and Joseph and then I’ll share a little about their book “Getting StartED Windows 7″ (Amazon)
Interview with Joseph Moran & Kevin Otnes
RICH: Joe, you say you like to play Tennis; what else do you like to do outside of the world of computers?
JOE: I’m a big movie fan, though considering the way I watch most of them– on Blu-Ray disc or via digital download– I guess that barely qualifies as outside the realm of computers. Considering how much time I spend seated in front of glowing screens, I do try to get outdoors as often as possible– biking is another activity I’ve recently rediscovered (though with a GPS mounted to the handlebars, even that isn’t quite computer-free!).

Todo Backup Protects and Restores Your Data
Windows Guides’ Rating | Compatible with |
3.5 out of 5 |
PROS: Some backup software is outright scary–with complicated expressions and words (AES, synchronization, encryption etc.)–this program is not scary at all. EASUES Todo Backup is simple to use and, although limited with options, does the job. CONS: Version 1.1 is a lot more polished. I had some problems getting version 1.0 to work. Although I praise this program for being simple, I would like to see better support for network backups, online backup (Amazon S3, SkyDrive etc.), and automation. Windows Backup can perform most of the functions this program can. VERDICT: If you’re looking for a free backup solution and find Windows Backup doesn’t do what you need, you should give this program a try. Photovisi Creates Collages of Your Photos
Windows Guides’ Rating | Compatible with |
4.5 out of 5 |
PROS: Creates free collages and is simple. This tool does what it claims and does it well. CONS: I love the simplicity of this tool, but I find it a little too simple. It would be nice to crop and edit the individual images right there on the site, but I realize this isn’t the intention of the tool. VERDICT: This free tool is great. I’d give it a try. PRICE: Free. Option to buy items with your collage printed on them.

Glary Utilities Cleans Your PC and Optimizes it for Speed
Windows Guides’ Rating | Compatible with |
4 out of 5 |
PROS: Clean interface, easy installation, one-click cleaning (automatic with PRO version), tons of modules to help you optimize your PC.CONS: The PRO version is a little pricey for me. Some modules are not well explained and could leave users a little unsure of what is going on with their PC.
VERDICT: The free version is free for personal use and I highly recommend it. The PRO version is $28 at time of writing, but I’d still like to see it for $20. Definitely try the free version and explore the PRO features to see what you think. PRICE: Free (Pro $39.95.) VERSION REVIEWED: PRO 2.17.0.776 DOWNLOAD: Glary Utilities |
