If you are having trouble with some websites not displaying properly, this guide is for you. Because there are so many ways to render web pages and so many different ways people create them, there are often problems with displaying websites in different browsers. Internet Explorer 8 is no exception to this rule. In fact, Microsoft has built IE8 in a way that ensures websites display properly if they are compliant with W3C standards. For now, many websites may not display properly, because they were built around older, non-compliant code. In this guide, you will learn how to run IE 8 in compatibility mode, which overcomes this problem.

Running a Site in Compatibility Mode

You might see something like this, instead of the site you want to view:

Simply do the following:

  1. Click the Page menu, and click Compatibility View

  2. You may see a window pop up. Type the name of the site you’re on and click the Add button to add it to the list

Now the webpage will run in compatibility mode. You should no longer have problems with the website in question.
