New to using the command prompt? Check out the Windows Command Prompt Beginner’s Guide

Do you use the Command Prompt?

I recently saw a poll asking whether readers used the command line, which got me interested to know if you guys use Windows’ Command Prompt.

The Command Prompt can be an intimidating place for novices but with Windows, thankfully there’s not a great need to use it as we have a GUI for these ‘commands’.

For geeks the Command Prompt’s empty black box is seen as invitational and can mean endless possibilities, quick.  Simple tasks such as copying and moving data,  editing boot entries and finding file properties can all be done quickly and efficiently.

We’ve covered some basic Command Prompt tips in the past;

but in a time where GUI is king, do you actually use the Command Prompt?

I for one love it.  I’m no Command Prompt Jedi but can work my way around it, and when I’m doing some complicated stuff, it makes me feel super-geeky!

We would be super grateful if you wouldn’t mind answering a couple of questions;

    I did not see a poll on this page. But I do use the cmd prompt. I have written several bat files to automate my weekly and monthly backup processes. I also use it to check on my IP connections when I am having problems.
