Recently, we asked you if you play computer games online. Here’s what you said:
53% of respondents stated they play video games online. Here’s a breakdown of which platforms you use:
From your responses, 63% of you play PC video games (not including flash games.) This number is much higher (proportionally) than I expected.
What’s Next?
I’ve thought about reviewing games, writing how to guides, providing game secrets etc.; however, there are a few things that hold me back:
- Testing software can sometimes take 8-10 hours (all told.) Honestly reviewing a game could take 60-80 hours.
- I’m not that into games so I don’t think I’d personally be a good critic.
- Buying games to review could get very expensive.
- The internet is packed with game reviews, walkthroughs, how-to’s etc.
I’m definitely not closed to the idea of featuring games (or guides to help you get the most out of your PC for playing games.) What do you think? Would you like to see more game-related guides on Windows Guides? Let us know in the comments.

No gaming. I as you believe there are already many places for gamers to go. I like your newsletter as it is.
Thank you. I agree, I’d be a very small fish in a massive pond and the passion really isn’t there. Maybe one day I’ll make a sister site and hire a bunch of gaming writers :)
There are so many “game reviews” available, why waste your valuable time when it would be much more appreciated on useful programs….just my humble opinion. And I do thank you for all your valuable information you have given us.
Thanks Mizdoc. I appreciate your feedback.
I’m really surprised by these results. I thought consoles would be king.
I wonder if it’s all because we’re a bunch of PC heads??
That’ll do it ;)
I believe most game reviews are superfluous; they either say nothing or nothing new (there are a hundred identical reviews of Black Ops out there) – so I understand not wanting to lump in with the rest.
Perhaps an occasional piece, when it was warranted – e.g., if an especially interesting, unique or little known game is slipping past unrecognized, or a game so good you’re moved to write about it.
Just to mix things up?
