Encrypt Your Data on Your Hard Drive or USB Stick

Let’s test to see if it works.

Go to your Computer and look for a “W” (or letter you chose) drive. It’s not there… that’s a good sign.

Go back to TrueCrypt

Select the drive letter you chose in the previous steps.
Click Select File and find your Container you created.
Click Mount.

TrueCrypt

Type in your password. And press OK.

TrueCrypt

Now you will see your volume is mounted.

TrueCrypt

Go to your Computer… your drive now shows up.

TrueCrypt

When you are done, go back to TrueCrypt and select Dismount

TrueCrypt

Congratulations, you now have your data encrypted on your USB drive.

jd - yes it's the same process. You will need truecrpyt on the computer you are using the drive on. You can encrypt just part of the drive if you'd like to use the drive on other computers still

is the process of encrypting an external hdd the same as the usb process? If I take my usb drive to a different pc/mobile will I be able to access my usb drive on the different pc/mobile?
