Windows Defender is enabled by default in Windows Vista and I personally use it all the time as I feel it does a good job. Some people don’t like Windows Defender and use other anti-spyware programs. In this guide I’ll show you how to disable Windows Defender in Windows Vista
Please ensure you have alternative spyware protection before applying this change. You can browse security freeware here.
There are a number of ways to disable Windows Defender, I feel this is the easiest way:
Disable Windows Defender
- Press Start, type “def” and open Windows Defender
- Click Tools and select Options
- Scroll down to the bottom and uncheck “Use Windows Defender“
- Click “Save” and you are done.
