I love writing articles and compiling freebies for Windows Guides and I love being inspired by readers’ needs. Please take a moment to select content you’d like to see more of on this site.
Next Saturday, May 23, I’ll aggregate the results (you can see them now if you indicate your choices), and I’ll focus on what you want in the near future. We’ll probably get a mix of everything (not a bad thing), but I believe some areas will stand out.
If you select “Other” please tell me what “other” means in the comments below. If you have ideas for articles, voice them in the comments also – I look forward to your feedback! This survey will end in one week — what are you waiting for?

How to get folder specific custom views in Thunderbird.
Outlook let us choose what fields we want to see in a particular folder but in Thunderbird there is apparently no way of, for example, making the sent folder show recepient’s names / addresses and the inbox show sender’s names / addresses

I love a lot of the suggestions already mentioned here. The freeware section with a review and ratings sounds like a great idea. I also love the tips for XP, Vista and Windows 7. You’ve done a great job with that, Rich. Thanks!

I Would like a better understanding to the Windows “dwm.exe” the Windows Desktop Manager, and its relations to the graphics Hardware and Software control. I think it is one of the worst bugs in the Win 7 version. I see more comments, complaints and questions on so many Win 7 based Web Sites than any thing else. And I have Win 7 running on 6 different Computers (laptops and desktops)and they all have different glitches related to the drivers and software related to the graphics systems.

I would like to see a series of tips on common Vista problems. For example, I keep having sound problems when I either pause a pps item from e-mails or it can happen when I am using Windows Media Center and when I exit and later return to the pps presentation, I get no sound. It is difficult to explain. I have used all of the built-in Helps, to no avail in stopping this from happening. To get sound back, I resort to shutting down and restarting which is ridiculous! It is most annoying.
Your help is requested.
Thanks,
Mac.

One thing I would like to see is a browser comparison. Chrome, Safari, Opera, IE, and Firefox against each other. Another one would be when popular software updates are made to the public or out of beta, like Safari 4.

Some things I would like to read about
I like guides about registry changes. You had one fine thing about “Send To and Move To” to right-click menu. After that I exported different registry changes to one file so when I install one computer I only use one file.
But there are much more You can do in Registry to make the computer run faster and use utilities for your daily work.

Automate daily / weekly / mountly work.
I have one autodefrag.bat to do this every week. Can I do diskcleanup and scandisk to work in a bat file and make that to work in schedule task.

I appreciate all the useful information. I love the stuff about setting up your computer as a web server and other internet and web-related information, and would love to see more of that. Thanks!

Umair,
Check out #3 on this list; it does something similar to what you’re describing: http://lifehacker.com/software/thunderbird/geek-to-live–eight-killer-thunderbird-extensions-234350.php
