210w7mc Windows 7 Media Center Customization Handbook ReleasedRSVR85 and I got together about a month ago and put together the Windows 7 Media Center Customization Handbook. RSVR85 took his previous Windows 7 Media Center Guides, updated them, and made them even easier to follow. I just put everything together and now it’s online and ready for your reading pleasure.

I’d like to thank RSVR85 for his hard work. This book is fantastic and I can’t wait to update my Media Center PC to Windows 7 so I can put these hacks into effect. His original forum post on the topic helped me customize Windows Vista’s Media Center (and this handbook will work, mostly, for Windows Vista Media Center.)

10.  Speed Up Media Browser Using USB Flash Drive

I have quite a large movie collection, and find that MB can take a while to load all of the DVD covers & backdrops for the entire library.

Using a USB Flash Drive should eliminate this problem as they’re generally a lot quicker than your hard drive, anything that’s good enough for ‘ReadyBoost’ should suffice for this.  You should see a big improvement immediately.

Avoid Dangerous Sites with the Web of Trust (WOT)

Posted by Rich On September - 15 - 200922 COMMENTS

You may have noticed there’s been a huge emphasis lately, on Windows Guides, about security and protection. As I’m going through the site and working on improving old posts (more about this soon), I’m trying to make sure you’re all protected for malware, identity theft, and malicious website. Something  I am a fan of is community support for protection online. The Web of Trust is one of the biggest community-based website rating sites.

PC Security Handbook Now Available

Posted by Rich On September - 9 - 200954 COMMENTS

The PC security handbook is now available. This handbook is designed to help you find ways to protect your Windows XP/Vista/7 PC and ensure your data is safe.

The purpose of this book is not to define the ultimate solution; its purpose is to give you simple, unbiased advice on what I’ve found to be the best options out there. In this handbook, I only give advice and share programs that I’ve used for at least a year. Some programs seem good when you first use them, but quickly annoy you or slow down your PC.
