I had my psu/mobo crash or go out. I replaced psu and the new one is acting just like the old one. I plug it in and the fan on the psu moves about a half inch and then stops. Which leads me to believe that it's my mobo because I'm not getting power to the mobo. I've had this PC for almost 2 years now and this is my first experience with either one going bad. So I've come to the conclusion that I will build my own system from now on. My question is; when I get all my new parts for my build, can I put my old hard drives into the new system and have it function normally. If so and at a later date my system gets corrupted and I need to reformat and reinstall my OS that is from the HP OEM recovery disc's, can I do this. I have herd that you can not reinstall an OS from recovery disc's on a new system.

You can't install a fresh copy of Windows from a recovery CD. You need the original media.
After you've built your PC the old hard drives will work fine.
