:lol:It hasn't got anything to do with MS or updates. It's Google that has made the changes. If you used FF it might be a lot easier to write a stylish/greasemonkey script. IE is going to be a little more difficult however......that shall not put me off trying though........i shall soldier on ;)

Well today there were two windows updates, Platform Update for Windows Vista (KB971644) and the other was for my Logitech webcam. I downloaded both and after the reboot my google home page is back to normal. So as far as I can tell, I still don't have a clue what the problem was or who's glitch it was.

It's neither a glitch or a problem. Google made the changes to their home page, pure and simple. It does seem however, that Google have changed it back to normal (probably after multiple complaints!).
No need for me to keep searching for a fix for IE by the looks of it then! ;)
Over & out :)

Thanks rsvr85:
For awhile there I thought I was going nuts. One day F-up and the next day just fine. It's funny how it coincided with my MS updates. Your are right it had nothing to do w/MS updates. I couldn't figure out what the hell happened and was wanting to put the blame on someone or something. First thought was I didn't do it and the next was MS updates. Some one was fixing to get an donkey chewing from me one way or another. Now I'm all calm and cool until the next issue. Again thanks for the reassurance.

i have known about this for a long time, but have never seen it. When I go to Google, it just shows normally. Is there some alternate page to see the new version. I think I may have seen i once, but clicking through another link that was not just google.com/

Well google is at it again. The same clean page as before...what ever. Now it's doing it on all my google home page on all my other browsers that I use. Why cant they just leave well enough alone or at least give us the option to choose which one we want to use. Damn this really pisses me off or at a bare minimum really freaking annoys me.

I quite like the new design. When you go to google, you'll only have the search box and the 2 buttons until you move the mouse, at which point the toolbar appears. Even if you type without moving the mouse, the toolbar will not appear.
If it annoys you so much, I suggest moving to Firefox and find/write a Stylish or Greasemonkey script to change it back to how it was.
