rsvr85 - Very wise of you to uninstall nCleaner [without clean!] ...... I had to do a System recovery on my XP-Pro PC because of nCleaner [this was long before I came on mintywhite] - It "shows no mercy" to some PCs!
[I think the "n" in nCleaner stands for "nuke" ..............]

f it doesn't we should suggest it to the authors

Taken from ncleaners website;

Quote:
nCleaner contains an advanced system and application cleaner with over 90 cleaning items available, a Registry Cleaner, a Tweak Manager, an advanced Startup Manager, a Junk Finder, a Free Space Shredder, a System Resource Monitor, a System Adviser, supports logging and statistics as well as advanced Scheduling.

See what i mean? Too many bells and whistles, (although CCleaner isn't that far away with features now!)......system advisor? WTF is that???!!

Sorry to go on, but i've just read their FAQ.

Number 1 on their list;........NUMBER 1!

Quote:
1. I am receiving this error message when I am trying to install or to open nCleaner: "This application has failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found"

The problem you are having is a system problem.
Here are 2 possible solutions to your problem. The second solution is more likely to be the right one for your problem:

Solution1: Replace the Framedyn.dll File

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type %systemroot%\system32\dllcache, and then click OK.
3. Right-click framedyn.dll, and then click Copy on the shortcut menu that appears.
4. Click Start, and then click Run.
5. In the Open box, type %systemroot%\system32\wbem, and then click OK.
6. On the Edit menu, click Paste. If you are prompted to replace the existing file, click Yes.

Solution2: Verify System Variables

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu that appears. If you receive the following error message, click OK: rundll32.exe - Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
3. Click Environment Variables.
4. Under System variables, click Path, and then click Edit.

NOTE: If no Path variable is listed, click New. In the Variable name box, type Path.
5. In the Variable value box, type the following:
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\wbem
6. Click OK three times (each time that you have the option).

I mean come on........installing it even messes up your PC.

INFACT, I ADVISE PEOPLE TO STEER WELL CLEAR OF THIS LITTLE BUGGER

Seriously though, anyone reading this .... be very very careful with nCleaner! I personally wouldn't use it again and I know of other folk who had BIG problems after using it ..... stick with CCleaner!
[I was lucky, my XP-Pro has system recovery built in,but other folk I know had major problems after using nCleaner!]

*Hides in shame*

I really liked it and now I'm questioning my review of it I have on Windows Guides.

In the not so distant future, we'll have a rating system on mintywhite. It will be tied in with software and we can truly find out the best programs out there :)

Rich - Sounds a good idea Rich, am up for that! - I use my XP pc as a "guinea pig" to try out new software, as it has recovery built in and I can safely revert to factory shipped state anytime I mess up! [which I have done many times on it in the past!]
If programs are ok after scrutinising them on the XP pc,then I'll consider trying them out on my Vista/W7 laptop. ...... that's what I usually tend to do!

Yeah i have tried that once before....too aggressive for my liking, and probably for the majority of MW readers too. I uninstalled after the first scan (no clean). I think i saw it featured here actually (old-school ), Rich did warn that it isn't a tool for girls............so..........

Would you say CC Cleaner is a tool for Girls, I've been on the web for some time, and I've seen that look so much more appealing. LOL

IObit has a registry cleaner.

Their other products are great so I would imagine the registry cleaner is too.

Hi,

its not a good idea to use CCleaners, try registry cleaners to clean your temporary
files cache because CCleaners are sometimes good but not always ,So you should
try with vista registry cleaners. In my way a good Vista registry cleaner can help
you to keep your PC running smooth.
