I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but I will post it anyways. A little while ago when I installed 7 my sound wasn't working correctly. I have a Realtek HD Audio Driver and 7 automatically found and installed the 7-compliant version, but when my audio played it was very crackly. This is what I did. I typed in "device manager" on the taskbar search and clicked "Manage sound devices". I right-clicked my audio device and selected properties, and then on the 2nd tab I believe I changed the sound quality from CD at a particular hertz to DVD. I don't know what it did exactly, but I think the change in the refresh rate in Hz cleared up the static and it sounds fine now. So if you have problems with your sound tinker with this and it may help.

Secondly, my display wasn't showing the full widescreen resolution that it should, but Intel just released a 7 driver for the 945 GM integrated chipset. When Windows Update installed it last night my screen got a little wider and a lot sharper. Thanks Intel!

Good to know. Vista Business is getting slower and slower (at least that's what I tell myself.) I am considering a full switch to Windows 7 and running Windows Vista in a Virtual machine instead.

You have a good point, but Ultimate doesn't have any features I need; rather, it has features I don't need, which take up space and resources.

well i think that ultimate has more security which is something you really need
and i dunno if you have a copy give it a try but if you dont i really dont think that you need to by it now
not after the windows 7 shows up
just stick with it until 7 become official then through it away :D

I don't have a license for it, but you make me want to try it! Vista Business works fine for me now and I do have to be running a LOT on it to get it slow down; however, I'm always running a lot so this happens frequently.

For example, if I am writing an article for this site, I will have at least the following running:

  • Firefox (say 3+ tabs)
  • FileZilla (FTP)
  • OneNote (Where I draft my posts)
  • Excel (Where I organize my posting dates etc.)
  • SnagIt (To take screenshots)
  • Photoshop (To edit post images)
  • VMWare Workstation running XP virtual machine (to test the guide in XP)
  • VMWare Workstation running 7 virtual machine (to test the guide in 7)
  • Notepad (To make unformatted notes and code)
  • All my background programs like NOD32, Smart Defrag, Mozy Home, CCleaner, LogMeIn etc.

I just need to stop using a laptop, which really isn't designed for this kind of usage!

these programs are ok i guess cuz you arent pushing the limit on your laptop
i mean the only program that needs alot of ram and processor is the PS and the other program will work fine i think
