I am running windows 7 at present & have reinstalled Xp into a new partition .
How do I get the boot system to recognised this & give me the opportunity to Dual boot
Going back awhile I down loaded a program that could do this. But I have forgotten its name as it was only a trial
Appreciate any help

It should automatically be detected.

Use EasyBCD to reinstall the Windows 7 boot loader (or Vista boot loader) and write the MBR ;)

do wat RSVR85 said or just boot up the recovery disc by setting the boot priority to CD/DVD. and then do start-up repair. :D

I have both :)

I think dual booting Vista & 7 is pointless. 7 is what Vista is and much much more. XP & 7 i can understand (compatibility) but not Vista & 7.

I tried dual-booting Vista and W7 briefly on my laptop which I bought with Vista Home Premium on it. I installed W7 Ultimate on it in a separate partition ............. there's just "no competition" kanatx , I soon rid my laptop of the Vista and use only W7 on it now! Vista soon became "redundant", I never bothered using it once I tried W7 out!
W7 is far superior and once you use it I can't see that you'll want to use Vista again, ever! :D

Yeah... Vista and 7 do the same things, but one of them does it better. You're welcome to dual-boot them though, just to see how much better 7 is :)
