Post subject: Windows 7 wont reconize network storage drive

Hi Guys can you help with this problem please. My laptop is connected wirelessly to a NetGear DG834PN ADSL router, and connected to the router is a Western Digital network storage drive. Never had any problem with this setup running XP and vista and Win7 RC1. Now I've bought and done a clean install of Win7 Home Premium clicking on Network shows my laptop and router but no Network Storage Drive. I've got Network Discovery turned on but still no drive showing. Has it anything to do with Win7 RC1 being Ultimate version and now I've got Win7 HP?? Sorry my knowledge isnt good when it comes to sorting this out! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wish I could help... I'm pretty good with networking but I've never worked with a hard drive attached to the network via USB, only through another PC that's sharing.

Thanks for the advice, sorry to say rebooting the router made no difference. I did forget to say that this network storage drive is connected to the router by a network cable not USB. Don't know if this gives you any more idea's what may be wrong? Thanks

I think that Win7HP doesn't have this feature.

I had trouble getting my Netgear NAS to connect with Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit. I solved it by disconnecting from the homegroup and just using the old XP style WORKGROUP.
Go to control panel, Network & Sharing centre and disconnect from homegroup. Set it to connect to WORKGROUP or whatever your NAS is set to.
