Desktop Wallpaper 008

Since Windows Guides first launched, we’ve brought you some of the best wallpapers available online. Previously, we released a weekly collection of wallpapers and reached 79 sets. As it’s been some time since we released some new wallpapers, I’m starting the count again at number 1. Create Your Own Handwritten Font

It being summer and all I thought I’d come up with something fun to be working on, while I sit indoors, waiting for the sun to come back on(line). A while back I was working on a design for some company diplomas, and I wanted a special font to use when typing the participant name(s), making it look handwritten.

I found a site that offers to convert your own handwritten letters to a usable TrueType Font. This site used to be free, but now they charge you $10 to actually download the finished font ($14,95 if you create a 200 character font). But if you really like to have your own unique typeface it might be worth the price. So if you’re an aspiring font creator or simply want a special font unlike any other, here’s how…

The XP start-menu displays your name (or the logged on user) on top. This is very handy in case you get amnesia and don’t remember who you are. But, it will also reveal who’s logged on, which can be a bad thing if you forget to remove the [Ed] *ahem* seedy content, or other non-work related stuff you’re doing on your computer. If you work at a high security environment, or just don’t want people to see who’s logged onto a certain computer, then this tip might just save your day.

If you are in need of printing out the content of your folders, more regularly than often – you have probably already got a freeware of sort to help you do that. However, wouldn’t it be great if you could right-click a folder and choose “Print Directory” instead ?

Well, I found out how to do so.

With a small executable batch-file, and a little registry tweak you can create a Context-Menu that, will print the content of any folder. Simply Right Click the folder name, Choose: Print Directory and: Voila.
