Has anyone tried the new Vista codec Package 5.3.1. I heard it can play almost alll formats like avi.and so on. And why has microsoft not sent it as an update..Anyway is it safe to download..and hope it does give problems..Someone shud reply plz

Hey, you should try it out and tell all of US how it works! Microsoft won't push the update to Windows because I believe Vista Codec Package is not a Microsoft product... so they won't update it. Hope this helps.

the codec package from microsoft is garbage, i recommend with every bone in my body to use CCCP: http://cccp-project.net/
This also gives u the possibilty to look at .mkv and .flv files.
Something Vista does not

Hmmm... we're actually not talking about a Microsoft package... this is a 3rd party application made for Vista so you can play any type of file inside of Windows Media Player. Or you could just download VLC Player, which in most people's opinions is the best.
